India holds a unique demographic advantage, with over 60% of its population below the age of 25. This youthful population has the potential to become a driving force behind the nation’s growth. However, the key to unlocking this potential lies in enhancing employability through focused skill development.
Despite India’s consistent GDP growth of 6–8%, employment opportunities have not kept pace. Studies reveal that only about 10% of recent graduates are actually employable, while the remaining 90% lack the necessary skills to meet industry demands. Every year, approximately 28 million young individuals enter India’s workforce, yet many struggle to secure stable employment. According to data from the National Sample Survey Office, the jobless rate in India reached a 45-year high of 6.1% in 2018 — a situation further aggravated by recent global disruptions.
