Trees are among the most vital components of life on Earth. They purify the water we drink, cleanse the air we breathe, and offer shelter to over 80% of terrestrial wildlife. In today’s era of environmental uncertainty, the act of planting trees has become one of the most effective and economical solutions to combat climate change. Remarkably, planting one tree can cost as little as 10 cents and take only 15 seconds.
As trees grow, they absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, store it in their trunks and roots, and release life-sustaining oxygen. Yet, in the pursuit of agricultural expansion and development, the world has lost nearly 420 million hectares of forest since 1990. To reverse this loss, nations are turning to nature-based solutions like reforestation (replanting in deforested areas) and afforestation (planting trees in areas previously without forests).
At Omega Meditation Seva Trust, based in Gujarat, we are proud to actively contribute to these solutions through our large-scale tree plantation programs aimed at tackling global crises—particularly climate change. Our environmental initiatives focus on both planting and protecting trees to ensure a sustainable future for all.
In response to the pressing need for child empowerment, Omega Meditation Seva Trust launched the Child for Child (CFC) Program, inspired by the belief that change begins at a young age. The CFC initiative promotes empathy, social responsibility, and awareness among children from privileged backgrounds by educating them about the realities faced by their less fortunate peers.
The program encourages young minds to appreciate their own privileges and take positive action for others. By instilling values of compassion, awareness, and social responsibility early on, the CFC program helps shape them into responsible citizens and future change-makers.
Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions:
Trees absorb harmful CO₂ from the atmosphere, store carbon, and release oxygen, helping mitigate global warming.
Water Conservation:
Trees provide shade, reducing water evaporation, and play a role in recycling water through transpiration, releasing up to 450 gallons daily.
Preventing Water Pollution:
Trees break the force of rainfall, allowing water to seep into the soil, reducing surface runoff, and preventing pollution of water bodies.
Providing Habitat to Wildlife:
Trees are essential for biodiversity. Species like oak and sycamore serve as habitats and food sources for birds, bees, squirrels, and more.
A Source of Renewable Energy:
With proper forest management, trees can serve as a sustainable and eco-friendly source of energy—an alternative to harmful fossil fuels.
Planting trees not only helps in climate restoration but also enhances community well-being by improving air, water, and soil quality.
Since its founding, Omega Meditation Seva Trust has planted thousands of trees across Gujarat and nearby regions. Our commitment extends beyond tree planting—we actively engage in social forestry, community-driven green projects, and environmental awareness campaigns. Our goal is to raise green cover, nurture nurseries, and inspire communities to act for the environment.
In addition to ecological efforts, our Trust is also deeply engaged in uplifting communities through education for underprivileged children, women’s empowerment, healthcare programs, skill development, elderly care, slum development, and much more.
At Omega Meditation Seva Trust, we believe every individual has the right to live a dignified and purposeful life. With this vision, we embrace a holistic approach to development—one that evolves with the needs of society and continues to make Gujarat and India a better, greener place for all.
